This marina is very nice! We stopped here for fuel and water top off on a Yacht Delivery from New York, NY on a 42 foot Sailboat and found it to be very clean and well maintained. It is a newer marina with a decently stocked dock house and the channel going in was no less than 10 feet, so, plenty deep. We arrived after dark, no deck hands were available, but it was easy enough to get to the fuel dock, it is the first dock at the entrance... They are floating docks, so no issues with tides. The shower facilities are VERY nice, the staff professional and it is walking distance to most everywhere in Southport. They even provide complimentary coffee, paper and maps into town. There is a NAPA Marine Store 8 blocks from the marina with a very helpful staff. The closest restaurant is PJ's across the street from the marina and the next closest is Fishy Fishy both with very good food and decent prices. We preferred PJ's for breakfast and Fishy Fishy for dinner but get there early, they close at 8pm! Southport is the quenticential "small town!" most all the homes are historical with placards displaying the original owner's name and the approximate year built.. Most in the 1800's! The people seem very friendly and there are quite a few bed and breakfasts for those into that kind of thing. I have been here twice... Once in winter and once in Spring...Winter the place is a ghost town! Spring is great of course! Hope this helps! Fair Winds! Capt. Jeff Lewis On Watch Yacht Delivery Onwatchyachtdelivery.com
